Shoreline Getaways is dedicated to
acquiring cottage properties and making available to
others the joy the owners enjoyed with that old fashioned
Port Stanley cottage experience. The properties are
all of humble origin and gradually we reinvest our cashflow
to improve the standards, attempting to maintain that
ambiance of nostalgia. For years we never had any televisions
or VCR's but we gave in to demand and all cottages are now equipped with televisions (no cable) and VCR's. (no CD players yet). Telephones
are prohibited! We want people to have a safe, fun filled
holiday whether they just need to relax or want to show
the children a family holiday. We want winter, our favourite
time in port to become our cottagers favourite time
too! Seldom have we found peace and serenity so close
to home.
The premises are rented the old fashioned way on the
honour system "as is", all included. All cottages
are available on a weekly basis in the summer and in
the off season for weekend, weekly or monthly rental.
Each cottage is clean and tidy and provides a cozy
get away.
There are currently four two bedroom bungalows. We
are acquiring inventory when we can. There is also available a "Hobbitt Hideout" - a special
little adjacent sleeper - only cabin for up to two children
who must be over the age of 10 and occupy the Hideout
and at their parents risk. "Hobbitt Hideout"
can be reserved to be used in a pinch for a guest with
payment arranged in advance - or on a telephone call
if it is available - on a first come first serve basis
for any of the three Edith Cavell Cottages.
Particular attention is paid to cleanliness especially
in the kitchen and bathrooms in all of the premises.
Our cottages were all year-round residences
formerly. Four of them are two bedroom
bungalows, equipped with double beds, or double futons,
in separate sleeping quarters. The remaining 2 are large one bedroom cottages with pullout sofa's to accommodate 2-4 additional guests. The beds are basic but
generally reported to be very comfortable. The balance
of the furnishings are well-maintained and each kitchen
is well equipped although the chef in the family may
complain! Each cottage has a fridge and stove, while some
also have washers and dryers. All are equipped with
TV's and VCR's. Cottagers usually supply their own towels,
linens, foodstuffs, soaps and shampoos. Inventories
of each cottage are provided on booking. Some games, puzzles
and toys are included for those quiet evenings and rainy
days.
There is no smoking permitted in any of the cottages
due to the extreme sensitivity of some of our guests
and insurance regulations.
Well behaved Pets not exceeding two, are permitted
in some of the properties. Owners are responsible for
their pets and any damage caused. Gates are available
to keep pets on the decks.
The cottages all come complete with barbecues on the grounds.
Each cottage is winterized and has heat besides
a fully functional gas fireplace thermostatically controlled
for both winter and summer use. Some are equipped with
ceiling fans. No air conditioners are available. Only
on the rarest days is air-conditioning beneficial given
the proximity to the lake, window breezeways and the
abundant shade trees on the lot. All are winterized
cottages and are available for winter use, each being
equipped with a gas fireplace.
Four of the cottages on Edith Cavell (the main beach
road) have immediate beach access through a cooperative
and jointly owned right-of-way to a private beach, known
as Crescent Beach, and are located directly across from
the beach at the end of a cul de sac.
The fifth on Bessie is located near the main beach
and is exceptionally well appointed having been totally
renovated. The last but certainly not the least, the Sannah is located walking distance from "Erie Rest Beach" and is a short drive or good walk from downtown.
All enjoy private parking for one vehicle. There is
no facility for boats or Seadoos but docks and landings
are nearby; PARKING FOR GUESTS IS AVAILABLE EITHER ON
STREET OR AT NEARBY PARKS.
Each cottage has exclusive decks or private areas as
they are situated on ample property. The grounds
are well maintained by staff.
The grounds are safe for children, well supervised of course.
Cottagers are asked to leave the premises clean and
tidy as if they were leaving "their grandma's house".
An inventory is taken upon departure and the key is
left at each cottage. There is a $25.00 fee to replace
the key. We do not charge a key deposit.
We confirm all is in order with a follow up confirming
we have not called upon the VISA or Mastercard or deposit cheque.
